Job Function

Welder / Pipe Fitter with industrial welding experience (Mig, Tig, Arch) for immediate hire.  Pipe fitting experience and the ability to read and interpret blue prints, piping plans and diagrams experience for the day shift. Under the direction of plant management, the Welder / Pipe Fitter will perform fabrication, erection, fittings and assembly of piping and other equipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform structural, plate & pipe welding for fabrication and field erection
  • MIG / Stick / TIG / Arc welding on various metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, Iron, Aluminum, Copper and alloys
  • Read & interpret structural & piping plans, isometric drawings and perform work as specified
  • Operate pipe‐threading machinery
  • Use various power tools such as grinders, cutters, drills, plasma cutter and gas cutting equipment
  • Work in the plant, the field and outdoors in AMVAC’s chemical manufacturing plant performing fabrication, erection, fitting and assembly of pipe and other equipment working at various heights 
  • Solve problems, offer creative solutions, communicate ideas effectively
  • Prioritize and plan work activities; apply feedback to improve performance
  • Promote Quality by demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness within safety / OSHA guidelines
  • Meet productivity expectations completing work in timely manner
  • Observe All Safety, Security & Hazmat procedures using equipment and materials properly; follow instruction in case of an emergency
  • Determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; translate concepts into images; modify designs

Education Requirements

  • HS Diploma / GED required
  • Certification from college or technical school desired

Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of welding experience including MIG, TIG, ARC on various metals: stainless steel, carbon steel, mild steel, cast iron, aluminum, Hastelloy, copper 
  • Welding License or Certification will be required
  • Operating Forklifts to move equipment and loads to work area 
  • Experience reading and interpreting structural & piping plans; following diagrams & instructions for fabrication of loading platforms, staircases, davits, structural supports using various welding techniques
  • Ability to weld stainless steel piping 1” through 6” using Heliarc /Arc welding
  • Demonstrate the use of power tools including grinders & various drills
  • Experience with cutters including Plasma cutters, gas cutting equipment  
  • Ability to read and follow instructions; perform and apply math equations & calculations 
  • Perform duties wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators (half-face, full-face, supplied air), masks, gloves, boots, chemical resistant suit, etc. and follow safety procedures 
  • Forklift experience required
  • Experience working in a manufacturing plant with Hazardous materials (toxic, flammable, corrosive chemicals) preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication; maintain logs and documents accurately
  • Physical requirements including regularly lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift 50 lbs up to 100 lbs; climb ladders & scaffolding; work in pits and small spaces; Work outside in inclement or hot weather
