AMVAC® Awards Seven Students With 2025 Southern Agriculture Industry Advancement Scholarships

AMVAC supports the futures of students pursuing careers in Southern agriculture

AMVAC®, an American Vanguard® Company, is proud to announce the seven recipients of its 2025 Southern Agriculture Industry Advancement Scholarship.

The winners and their higher education institutions are:

  • Delaney Brown, Texas A&M University
  • Hannah Fowler, University of Tennessee - Martin
  • Jessie Adams, University of Georgia - Tifton
  • Navdeep Godara, Virginia Tech University
  • Sadie Morris, Mississippi State University
  • William Cordell, University of Florida
  • Rhet Bexley, University of Arkansas

AMVAC will award each recipient a $2,000 scholarship to help them continue their educational and professional pursuits in the agriculture industry. The recipients’ fields of interest widely vary across the industry, including agribusiness, crop science, plant breeding, weed science and more.

“At AMVAC, we’re proud to support these incredible students shaping the future of the agriculture industry,” said Wen Carter, AMVAC Product Development and Technical Agronomy Manager. “AMVAC is committed to supporting the future of Southern agriculture, and this scholarship is just one of the ways we fulfill that commitment. We’re honored to play a role in the journeys of these bright young minds, and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact they will have on the future of agriculture.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants needed a nomination from a consultant or professor and experience studying agriculture or working in the industry between 2023 and 2025. The scholarship was open to seniors in high school or students enrolled in an agriculture program at an accredited college or university.

Sadie Morris, one of the scholarship recipients, is earning a degree in junior agricultural science. She hopes to be an agriculture teacher or extension agent to give back to the industry that’s supported her throughout her life.

“Agriculture is really important to me and has always been a part of my life. No matter where you go in life, you’re always going to come back to it,” Morris said. “… Without some of these scholarships and especially this scholarship, I wouldn’t be able to just go to Mississippi State without taking out a loan or anything.”

Another recipient, Jessie Adams, is obtaining his master’s degree in plant breeding, genetics and genomics at the University of Georgia - Tifton. Adams didn’t expect to enter the agriculture industry but changed his career path after working with a peanut breeder.

“I never thought I’d work in agriculture, but the peanut breeding program opened my eyes. Here in South Georgia, peanuts are a lifeline—we want farmers, sellers and buyers to have a great year every year,” said Adams. “This scholarship helps me keep that vision growing.”

Pursuing his graduate degree in weed science at Virginia Tech University, recipient Navdeep Godara is motivated by his desire to help farmers worldwide.

“That’s why I moved here from India — to help all the farmers, not just back home, but also here,” Godara said. “And now I’m committed to giving back to the community.”
