2023 was another busy and productive year here at AMVAC®. Building on a great year in 2022, we hit the ground running as we continued to work on agricultural solutions that deliver for growers in the U.S. and around the world. Here are some of the highlights from the past year:
BUSY YEAR ON THE ROAD
This year, the AMVAC team put in a lot of miles as they traveled throughout the U.S. and beyond. They attended trade shows and conferences including the Potato Expo, Peanut Growers Conference, California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA), AgriBusiness Global Trade Summit, and National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) Trade Talk; met with growers, partners, and retailers; and participated in plot programs to showcase our portfolio of products.
CULTIVATING PARTNERSHIPS
In 2023, we forged new partnerships and expanded existing ones to further our products and services. One notable announcement was the extension of our partnership with NewLeaf Symbiotics® beyond the U.S. to bring biologicals solutions to key international markets.
PRODUCT INTRODUCTION ANNOUNCEMENTS
AMVAC added several products in 2023. New to the SIMPAS-applied Solutions™ portfolio was MicroSync Pro® MINI, a new uniform granular fertilizer. We also introduced Mandolin® to our citrus portfolio. In the Midwest, we launched BioWake Prime™, a new biological solution to safeguard against corn rootworm.
PRODUCT AND COMPANY RECOGNITION
We are honored when the industry recognizes our products. After launching late in 2022, BioWake™ was nominated as one of the Top 10 New Products of the Year by Farm Journal’s The Scoop. We are thrilled to see BioWake™ for Corn and BioWake™ for Soybeans already making an impact in the market. Voting is still open until Jan. 1 to take the top spot: thedailyscoop.com/new-products. This year AMVAC also was named a “Top 10 Precision Farming Solutions Provider” by AgriBusiness Review magazine — lauded especially for its SIMPAS® prescriptive application system and SIMPAS-applied Solutions™ (SaS™) at-plant crop inputs.
SUPPORTING THE FUTURE OF AGRICULTURE
We are proud to support the agriculture industry, and we know that its future depends on the infusion of new talent. This year we awarded seven students with the 2023 Cotton Industry Advancement Scholarship. The recipients were nominated by cotton consultants who recognized their potential as they pursue a career in agriculture.
NEW ACHIEVEMENTS AND NEW FACES
We are proud of the talent that we have here at AMVAC. Dr. Peter Porpiglia, Global Vice President of Product Development and Technical Support at AMVAC, was honored with the 2023 Weed Science Society of America (WSSA) Fellow Award. We also welcomed two new faces at American Vanguard to newly created positions: Don Gualdoni, Chief Transformation Officer; and Shirin Khosravi, Senior Vice President of Human Resources.
As 2023 comes to a close, we thank all of our customers, retailers, and partners for your support. We can’t wait to show you what’s next in 2024.
