Job Function
The Synthesis Operator at AMVAC’s Axis manufacturing plant is responsible for the safe and environmentally sustainable operation of plant assets. This position is also responsible for the operation, inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance of the chemical synthesis unit.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspects, adjusts, isolates, monitors, operates and repairs plant equipment and systems
- Report plant conditions to supervisor, plant personnel verbally and in writing
- Conducts chemical readings and makes adjustments as necessary
- Completes and maintain accurate records and files
- Observes plant safety rules, perform assigned tasks in safe manner and be alert to unsafe conditions
- Conducts lab samples pulls as needed
- Operates Vent Gas Incinerator (VGI), Chillers, and Cooling Tower
- Processes effluent through DCS
- Assist mechanical & electrical maintenance and I&C activities
- Work rotating shift to accommodate plant 24-hour coverage
- Participates in Emergency Response Team
- Comply and ensure compliance with all regulatory safety and environmental requirements
- Comply and ensure compliance with all company policies, practices and lawful directives
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience working as a Synthesis or Chemical Operator at a specialty chemical manufacturing plant
- Ability to read and understand P&ID's
- Experience performing minor maintenance safely and in a timely manner
- Must be forklift certified
- Physically meet the needs of the job to include, climbing stairs, wearing respiratory protection, and safely lift at least 70 pounds
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to work as a team member as well as independently
- Must be prompt, dependable and have a good attendance record
- Must participate in the Safety monthly blood draw program
- This position will be required to work 12-hour shifts, nights and/or weekends as job duties demand
- Must be able to participate in the respiratory program which includes being clean shaven and able to wear a respirator when safety needs dictate
- Must participate in random drug tests
- Must be able to pass a physical and drug test
- Must be able to pass a Department of Homeland Security approved pre-employment criminal background check
Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency required
- 40 hour HAZWOPER preferred and will be required
- Firefight Certification preferred and will be required
- Vocational or technical degree preferred
- AIDT Training strongly preferred
