American Vanguard Corporation (NYSE: AVD) is a diversified agricultural and specialty products company focusing on crop protection, turf and ornamental markets, and public health applications. We are seeking a program manager to join us on our digital transformation journey responsible for governing the execution of an ERP (QAD) implementation. You will be a part of a dynamic, entrepreneurial team that will fundamentally redesign our ways of working and embed digital capabilities.

The Program Manager will support the Digital Transformation effort by managing and driving a portfolio of multiple strategic programs (including QAD / ERP implementation) designed to deliver financial and operational value. The role will focus on strategic and tactical program management, including managing a team of IT vendor resources, escalating risks from execution teams, and reporting value and benefits across the program. The role will require mastery of best-in-class PMO methodologies, overseeing the use of the appropriate methods and tools for program governance across the portfolio. The Program Manager must demonstrate deep expertise in risk/issue management, supervising complex programs to time and budget, plus an ability to balance competing priorities. The role will also require strong communication skills to consolidate information for executive meetings and the ability to adjust messaging from middle-level management up to executive leadership.  As a member of the team, this job is located in American Vanguard’s corporate headquarters across from Orange County Airport in Newport Beach, CA.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage program governance and PMO standards across Transformation office-led strategic initiatives
  • Manage the large-scale multi-year ERP (QAD) implementation
  • Apply project management best practices across both agile and waterfall approaches
  • Lead a team of project managers, consultants, and developers who support day-to-day execution of strategic programs
  • Assess program health to identify roadblocks to value realization, escalate risks to appropriate stakeholders, and ideate solutions
  • Coordinate program support across organizational boundaries
  • Ensure program/project teams are using appropriate tools and PMO methodologies
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively to key stakeholders
  • Direct team and own focus based on changing priorities/ urgencies to match enterprise needs
  • Provide support for other tasks, as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience in complex program management/ risk mitigation and governance and balancing competing priorities
  • Understand ERP (QAD) implementation modules and have managed a complex ERP rollout for multiple locations and countries; manufacturing experience ideal
  • Experience working with QAD / QADs Cloud environment in manufacturing, finance, global environment
  • Strong program management skills managing multiple initiatives across disparate stakeholder groups
  • Experience leading an ERP program office across multiple, complex, strategic initiatives, including leading and developing other program & and project managers and continuously assessing priorities
  • Polished communication skills and experience communicating with and presenting to senior management and external partners
  • Outgoing, ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Passionate about driving programs to stay on time, on budget, and delivering financial impacts
  • Believes in a culture of transparency and trust and continuous improvement mindset - open to learning new ideas outside scope or knowledge
  • Comfortable working independently in an ambiguous environment with global teams
  • MS products, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Project Web App/MS Project, (Power BI, Teams.)
  • Must be able to pass background check

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required preferably in a quantitative or business area
  • MBA a plus
