Job Function

This Logistic Planner at AMVAC will enhance product distribution by analyzing historical records and developing immediate and long-term logistics plans that impact production, distribution and inventory, specific to areas of responsibility. This is a new position which will be responsible for planning and analyzing the national distribution of hazardous and non-hazardous raw materials and finished goods. This position will work with internal and external business partners obtaining and providing information to improve overall logistics for AMVAC’s manufacturing needs.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize quantitative skills to understand, analyze, validate, manipulate, and manage large amounts of data, specific to problem solving, project and decision support, and trend analysis
  • Determine the amount of inventory to store at certain warehouses to meet customer needs while ensuring the most cost-effective mode of transportation and warehouses are utilized
  • Develop distribution plans after the manufacturing team sends out production plans
  • Work with both the planning department and commercial department to determine best location to store products
  • Track and communicate current product stocking levels to the commercial teams
  • Coordinate with AMVAC’s customer service team the best FOB (Free on Board) selection for shipments to ensure the lowest cost FOB point is selected and the transit time requirements are met by analyzing data
  • Develop business tools and solutions based on knowledge of products and technology
  • Improve logistics processes through strategic thinking,   process improvement, prioritizations, and project planning
  • Work with Amvac's 3rd party logistics provider on external logistics needs
  • Communicate with warehouses and carriers to problem-solve any issues that may arise and provide alternate solutions when optimal warehouses do not have current capacity
  • Understand business processes and how they infiltrate to other departments within the company while providing suggestions on making such business processes more efficient
  • Provide insightful oral & written recommendations and communicate issues and roadblocks to managers and appropriate business partners

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years  logistics distribution experience - manufacturing & chemical experience preferred
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, manage multiple projects
  • Collaborative individual who will work well with a team, and interact on multiple levels and functions throughout the organization
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with various levels within a corporation
  • Comfortable professionally managing vendors, outside business relationships and internal customers
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required
  • Pass post-offer physical, drug tests and a Department of Homeland Security approved pre-employment criminal background check

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in a related field preferred
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required
