Job Function

As a Formulator for AMVAC, you will formulate and package seed treatment chemicals manually and using the proper equipment paying close attention to quality, safety and production goals. The Formulator is a key member of the production team. This position is for the 12 p.m. to 8 a.m. (morning) shift.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced production environment safely and effectively
  • Weigh out quantities of powdered or liquid dyes and chemicals following formula sheets
  • Maintain and evaluates quality control of production protocols 
  • Ensure that all products meet specifications while in process and prior to packaging and shipment
  • Observe the operation of machinery to detect malfunctions; make minor adjustments or repairs during production
  • Adjust equipment and correct labels, lot numbers and containers per product specification correctly and neatly fills, seals and palletizes during  packaging
  • Monitor and adjust process equipment to meet quality check specifications
  • Record vital meter readings and process checks on batch tickets
  • Wear assigned safety and personal protective equipment & maintains assigned equipment in good working order
  • Follow all safety rules
  • Report any process safety or quality problems to the Shift Supervisor
  • Operate forklift for loading or moving materials and products

Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of general policies and procedures, including safety and security measures, and the ability to practically apply such knowledge
  • Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to details especially when it comes to product quality
  • Team-oriented
  • Knowledge of the proper operation, storage, and routine maintenance and repair of equipment 
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos
  • Ability to comprehend the consequence of various problem situations and to refer such problems to the appropriate individual for decision-making
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred

Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED

Experience Requirements

  • 2 years of work experience (1 year in a manufacturing plant preferred)
  • Experience operating a forklift or similar truck; or, must pass in-house fork truck certification
